I’ve driven some really nice cars in my time, but the new X5 is just about the best 4WD or SUV I’ve ever had the privilege to drive. And that’s probably unsurprising given that advances in technology are a given in this digital and industrial revolution that we are living through. But this one’s special. It’s not top of the range, but the 3 litre diesel engine purrs along with its 8 speed sport automatic engine. The panorama glass roof is bigger than any sunroof I’ve ever seen but with parking assist, adaptive LED headlights and the best touch screen technology BMW have yet produced, had me at hello!

More bells than a school yard and more whistles than an English soccer referee, the new BMW X5 is the ultimate driving machine for those that need the practicality of an SUV or 4WD, but yearn the performance of a sportscar. It’s won me over!
