The annual Travis Schultz Winemakers’ Master Class, backed by NAB Private, raised $91,000 to help SunnyKids to support children at risk with winemakers from the Barossa Valley, Adelaide Hills and Clare Valley regions coming together at the Maroochy RSL to share their knowledge of premium wines for the all-important cause.

This year’s sold-out event featured four speakers who lead tastings of major Australian wines, including Justin Nugent from Bird In Hand, Jane Ferrari of Yalumba, Diana Palmer of Skillogalee and Darren Naylor from Brockenchack Wines.

The major event, now in its sixth year, hosted 300 people for an afternoon of wine education and business networking in aid of the SunnyKids charity and its vital programs in schools and the community, including Village Buddies, P100 and the newly launched child sponsorship program that matches local children and their families with corporate and individual sponsors.

SunnyKids CEO Chris Turner said although the winemakers lunch was popular for business networking it also served an essential function of raising awareness and sharing information about how people could help change a child’s life and future prospects – in one day.

“We could not be more grateful to the Sunshine Coast business community for their generosity… the $91,000 raised will go a long way,” Mr Turner said.

“This event mobilises our village to get together and contribute to making a real difference and we are very grateful for the leadership that people like Travis Schultz and our patron Mayor Mark Jamieson demonstrate by holding key events like this for SunnyKids.”

Event founder and sponsor, Travis Schultz, said the Winemakers Masterclass event was a favourite afternoon out and a rewarding opportunity to spotlight how much SunnyKids mattered to the Sunshine Coast.

“It’s humbling to know how much we can achieve at one seemingly social event, by fundraising and by raising awareness and enabling guests to become more involved with SunnyKids from that day forward,” Mr Schultz said.

“I am delighted to have seen this exciting event become the leading, memorable and change making event of its kind locally, at so many levels – it’s meaningful for me to see it keep growing the way it has.
