Taylors, Eighty Acres Chardonnay Review

If there’s one thing better than finding the perfectly fitting bargain at a Boxing Day sale, it’s stumbling across an exceptionally good wine at a price point that means you don’t have to wait for a special occasion to enjoy it.

Australians are blessed to have so many really good wines available at budget price points, but now it seems even the French are admiring our inexpensive wines. Take for example the Taylors Eighty Acres Chardonnay – it’s a Clare Valley wine that has just been awarded a gold medal at the Chardonnay du Monde competition in Burgundy. Over 1,000 wines from 38 countries were sampled by the judges and only 53 gold medals were awarded. When you consider that many of the wines at these prestigious shows sell at the equivalent of a $100.00 price point, it’s a tribute to the winemaker that the Eighty Acres can achieve the gold medal honour at only $15.00 a bottle.

We really are spoilt for value in this great land!
